Our modern farmhouse custom home project was built in 2020 on land that has been in the family from 1964. The customer wanted the farmhouse feel without the old wood windows and squeaky floor boards. Nestled on a 120 acre farm the home sits perched on a hill towards the back of the property. With a wrap around porch and large Andersen casement windows the view of the property is maximized. Due to the open spaces around we upgraded the wall assembly to 2×6 exterior walls, and added a coat of foam insulation to air seal this custom home against the wind. For interior finishes we built custom knotty alder, white oak, and painted cabinets. Along with rustic barn details from the hay barn that was on the property. This modern farmhouse also features a full stone fireplace with Michigan sourced fieldstone, which compliments a Michigan farm that is always growing fieldstones!
